  Low cost place to eat out..very busy......sadly no longer has competition locally so treat customers in a "take it or leave it" fashion. Over priced selection of dishes. Do welcome families though.

  My mother rang The Owls to book a table for herself, her husband and two sisters. When they arrived at the restaurant, they were told their table was upstairs. My mother pointed out that there was absolutely no way her husband could manage the stairs - being hardly able to walk. She was told that she should have mentioned that when she booked. When she pointed out that she had never been before, so had no idea the restaurant had an upstairs, but she also mentioned that perhaps the person taking the booking should have checked about the ability of the party to climb stairs before accepting the booking. As the average age of the people already seated in the restaurant seemed to be about 60, this would seem a sensible precaution. The party was then told it would be an hour before a table would be free downstairs. They accepted this and waited for over an hour. At twenty-five to three they asked when would they be seated and were told that it would be another twenty to twenty-five minutes wait, but it was then pointed out that they stopped serving at three - so in fact wouldn't be seated in time to order! This was a completely disgraceful way to treat customers who had, in all good faith booked in advance. There was no apology, no remorse on the part of the staff and the party were left to seek lunch from somewhere else at 3pm on a Sunday. The service, or lack of it was disgraceful, not to mention they completely disregarded the Disability Discrimination Act. Shocking in this day and age.
